We are seeking an experienced, Australia-based freelance bookkeeper to support small Australian businesses on an ongoing contract basis, averaging approximately 20-30 hours per month.

This is a part time role with sporadic but recurring scopes, ideal for someone who can jump in quickly, communicate clearly, and deliver without missing deadlines.

What You’ll Work On

✔️ Maintain accurate financial records using Xero

✔️ Perform regular bank reconciliations

✔️ Review and maintain the Chart of Accounts

✔️ Manage accounts payable

✔️ Produce monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements

✔️ Process wages and payroll via Wise

✔️ Ensure records align with Australian accounting standards and compliance

✔️ Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning

✔️ Organise and maintain financial documents using Google Drive, Sheets, and Docs

Requirements

✔️ Proven experience as a bookkeeper for Australian businesses

✔️ Strong working knowledge of Xero

✔️ Proficient in Google Workspace

✔️ High attention to detail and accuracy

✔️ Reliable, organised, and able to work independently

✔️ Comfortable managing multiple small business accounts

✔️ Availability for 7 to 10 hours/week with flexibility for urgent requests.

✔️ Able to start immediately

Nice to Have

✔️ Experience in regulated industries (medical, healthcare, wellness)

✔️ Basic understanding of product marketing or e commerce design

✔️ Motion graphics or simple animation skills
